Biography

Elena Datrino was born in Vercelli, in 1977, professional free-lance photographer, lives and works in Milan.

Growing up surrounded by art thanks to her family's Antiques Gallery in Piedmont, she has been deeply touched and fascinated by the beauty of ancient painting since childhood and eager to study the world of images.

Photography offered her the one-way ticket to this exploration, which began with a bachelor's degree at the European Institute of Design in Milan in 1999, it continued for 7 years with assisting professional photographers all over Europe, with museum archiving and the direction of studios, until becoming her professional practice in addition to teaching in the sector.

In 2011 Elena opened her own photographic studio in Milan, which, on top of being the base of her shootings and courses, is a rentable space for the realisation and presentation of visual photographic, video and artistic productions.

Since 2015 she has been a judge at prestigious international photography awards, including Work Family Rebalance (Fondazione Vigorelli, Milan), Obbiettivo Solidarietà (Misericordia di Siena), Unlock the Change (Bcorporation Italia).

Since 2018, she has been teaching at the course 'Photography Direction 2- Portrait and Figure' at the European Institute of Design in Milan.

Today she works on art reproductions, portraits, design and corporate reportage for private clients, also at an international level: Museums (Compagnia delle Mostre, Gam Milano, Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, Fondazione Musei di Venezia), Galleries, Publishing Houses (Rizzoli, Mondadori, Paparo, Zel) companies (Moschino, Gucci, Perofil, Alessi, Bausano, Italspirits, NonSoloCocktails) and Communication Agencies (BcToday, Oic, TheEmbassy, 4Friends Film).

She has always combined her activity as a commercial photographer with that of an author. She has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows in Italy and abroad, including the prestigious International Festivals Rencontres d'Arles, Savignano Immagini, Festival FIOF in Orvieto, Kunsthouse in Cologne, Galleria Vittoria and Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome, Galleria B. Brecht, Spazio 'O, Fabbrica del Vapore, Leica Gallery, Museo Bagatti Valsecchi and Milan Photofestival.

In 2021, she was appointed by FIOF "Ambassador of Italian Photography in China" at the International Lishui Festival.

In 2023 she published her first book “Facce da Blogger” with Gangemi Publisher.
